Fellowship Is Our Togetherness – Jan Bell

42 “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellow-ship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were TOGETHER and had everything in common.” Acts 2. When I hear people say to me that they don’t “do” Church, but they are in to Jesus – they say that they don’t want to get too involved in a particular Church they are attending – my heart is sad. I think of FELLOWSHIP as that feeling of HOME – when you get there and people are glad you’re there. It can be like that feeling of a hard day or long walk and when HOME comes in sight you heave this sigh of relief. FELLOWSHIP IS OUR TOGETHERNESS – the Body LIFE of the church. It is not only about our vertical relationship with Jesus but our horizontal relationship with His people. LIFE IS HARD – but when together we restate, remind, and renew our faith TOGETHER – we leave this place stronger and more equipped to handle life. Being a part of God’s crazy mixed-up body of sinners who are actively sharing — gives us room to grow and support when we are in a place of hurt or crisis. Notice in this Acts passage that they were involved in three parts – * Into the Word together * Enjoying each other’s company * Sharing together in the Lord’s supper THEY WERE ACTIVELY PARTICIPATING – TOGETHER. ONE THING I KNOW in my 65 years of being a part of HIS family – my focus is clearer – my eyes are fixed more firmly on Jesus – and HIS gifts are more apparent in my life when I am able to be TOGETHER with the Family. I don’t want anyone to miss fellowship in this Body of Believers. Look around – who needs that word of encouragement? – who needs that prayer for strength?– who needs that hug or pat on the back for a job well done?
